Commercial coffee machines come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but if you’re establishment requires a real workhorse that can be operated all day by a barista or bar staff, then your options become more limited. However, there are still plenty of things to consider before taking the plunge. Below are some of the most common questions we come across when helping our clients find the perfect commercial coffee machine for them.

How much will it cost?

There are several options when it comes to selecting the best commercial coffee machine for your business. As well as purchasing a machine outright, you can also look at leasing options and the preventative maintenance contracts, so you’re working to a set monthly figure rather than with a depreciating asset. There is no hard and fast rule about which is the best option, it really is different dependent on the circumstances of your particular business, and your own needs and preferences.

It can be helpful (whether purchasing or leasing) if you have an idea of a budget that you’re comfortable with. We can help with commercial coffee machine leasing and purchases, and we’d be happy to talk about all the options available to you so you’re making an informed decision.

Which machine will be able to handle the volume needed?

This is one of the most important questions you’ll need to answer. This will dictate the size of machine you need to ensure you’re never caught short. Smaller businesses that will only be making one or two coffees at a time usually opt for a machine with just two or three group heads, as this provides plenty of capacity for their needs. Or a Lavazza Blue capsule barista machine such as LB4723 or LB4724 would be a good choice.

However, a business that has multiple people serving and expects to be preparing more cups per hour can opt for a machine with more group heads, which allows multiple people to be preparing drinks simultaneously without getting in each other’s way.

It is important to look at the average daily serving, but as well as the demands during peak hours, as your machine must be capable of functioning during your busiest trading hours.

If you think you’re regularly going to be serving in excess of 200 cups per day then it’s worth looking into purchasing options of a high capacity machine designed to meet your needs.

What about servicing?

If you’re leasing or rent a machine you can incorporate a service contract into your monthly payment, which gives you peace of mind. If you’re purchasing a machine, we will cover your 1st-year machine service under our manufacturer’s warranty, we would also strongly recommend having the preventive maintenance contract, as the down time required for the manufacturer to repair your machine could be detrimental to your business. You can still pay for a maintenance contract when purchasing a machine.

We can provide the highest quality service packages that will always ensure the minimum amount of disruption should you encounter a problem. We can also perform regular preventative maintenance to help you avoid any down time. Our technicians are the best professional technicians in Ireland.

We aim to fix 99% of service calls in a single visit, and our V-Tracker System uses the cloud to share data and create transparency about any work carried out and invoicing.

How much stock do I need so I don’t run out of anything?

We can make regular deliveries of the highest quality gourmet coffee supplies. Each business is different, although there are similarities between similar styles of business. Over time you will learn what products you need a higher stock level of, but we will ensure you don’t need to break the bank on stock in the meantime. If you want, we can organise monthly, bi-weekly or weekly running order, so you will never run out of stock. And you have the freedom to change the running order at any time, you will never be tied down to a minimum order with us.

Will you train my employees to use the machine?

Having a great commercial coffee machine is only half the battle. You also need workers that know how to use it efficiently and provide your customers with the best product possible. We can provide as much or as little training as you need. From simple on-site training to intensive training in our purposely built training centre. All of our training is to the highest standards as set out by The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) by our own in-house SCAE certified Barista.

We tailor our training to suit your needs, depending on the industry you’re in, type of equipment you have, and the level of knowledge your employees already have. Training can also include in-house maintenance and cleaning to minimise future repair costs and improve performance and longevity.

Is there anything else I should know?

Water filtration is an important factor that is often overlooked when preparing a high-quality cup of coffee. Investing in the best equipment in the world won’t save your coffee if the water supply is poor. Dealing with businesses all over Ireland has given us a great insight into the quality of water in different areas. Our engineers will analyse your water supply and tailor a solution to ensure your coffee is the best around. And water filter change can be part of your preventative maintenance contract, so you never have to worry about it being overdue.
